You can tell fall is here by many things. First the smell changes. Since begining of September there is a cooler smell in the air. It’s as if a cloud’s been lifted and everything smells fresh. If you do not want to go that abstract, try following the news. Once you start reading about US Open and New York Fashion Week beware! ’cause it’s going to start raining soon.
And it did. Today is the second day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, NY 2009 and it’s been raining since last night. Probably the most interesting part of the Fashion Week is the party scene since the catwalk shows pass in blink of an eye. The invite-only parties are everyone’s fancy, but they are after all for invited people only. Yesterday night’s favorite was the The World of Women & Supreme Roof Party, hosted by Paul Rowland and V Magazine on 511 W. 25th St. The images are via style.com.

For us “groundlings” though, there is always the Fashion’s Night Out, where the models and designers perform for the public eye. Yesterday night from 6 to 11 pm all designer shops in Manhattan stayed open, filled with the fashion crowd. It was probably the most extensive party hopping . Around Bleecker Street, where I live, all the shops had it rocking despite the rain and the wind. There was the Teen Vogue Party between 7th and 6th.
